# 24

So working some more on that sculpture, playing with paints (acrylics & pastels) to achieve a more metallic look.

Some photos in different angles:

  2. Ilona, I just popped over from Paris to visit your blog. It is fun to see other things that you create, from what we are posting on the "somewhere to sketch" blog. Nice pieces!! I like that you are doing so many portraits. That is quite a challenge.

Thank you for your kind words! I love to do portraits, but it's a challenge to do a new one every day.

  7. The metallic paint really highlights the lights and shadows on the sculpture. I like the angle of the last photograph best.
Did you use a self-hardening clay, or has it been through a kiln?

    1. Thank you Jez! I used ordinary white clay with some grog. I didn't bake it (or get it baked rather, I don't have a kiln!!!) I just sculpt and do what ever comes to my mind. I painted on a mask I did in February, and it is now dry and sitting on a shelf in my study. I let the new face-sculpture dry slowly and hope to be able to put it on a plinth of some kind, so it will be able to stand properly for itself. I envy you for your art-education ;-) sculpture would certainly have been my choice of subject!
