It is a charcoal drawing on structured printing paper. On the reference photo, the model was a little younger than on the other photos I used for the 29 Faces challenge. The charcoal made it a bit difficult to get the finer details properly. To do that I would probably need a larger paper - maybe I'll try that for tomorrow :-)
I also did a self-portrait-sketch. We had a little fun discussing self-portraits. So here is, what I did:
I don't know if anybody, who knows me would recognize me in this drawing...
Hope you enjoy the 29 Faces challenge Ayala Art has set for September (see the link in the sidebar) and please visit the other artists at Paint Party Friday!
Have a wonderful week end!

Die Portraits gefallen mir richtig gut! Ähnlichkeit finde ich nicht so wichtig, wie Ausdruck. Das hast du sehr gut hin bekommen!

Tolle Werke, das Selbstporträt ist grossartig! LG, Valerie

Both drawings are so intense and powerful. I think your self-portrait is beautifully done and it looks so thoughtful. Black on white paper is so effective.
ReplyDeleteCharcoal needs large paper, or I need large paper when I draw with charcoal. Your drawing is very good, lovely look... in the first drawing :-DDD
ReplyDeleteI haven't see You but I am sure this is not You. But I like this drawing because it is not necessary to laugh in every photo or picture. This is very expressive and inside looking person.
Super charcoal faces, Ilona. I tried to do a painting of myself a few years ago. When I covered one side it looked like me, when I covered the other side it was my sister! I admire those who can do self portraits.
ReplyDeleteLove these charcoal drawings. I always make a terrible mess with charcoal!
ReplyDeleteLove our drawings but the second is too stern for you, you have a distinct softness to you that is charming. xox
ReplyDeleteCorrine, I wanted to thank you for your sweet comment last week! Don't know what happened in between :-) Time literally flies by over here!
DeleteMaybe I caught the concentration and a bit of the tiredness that sits inside me at the moment in the sketch.
Hopping over to visit your blog now!
Hugs Ilona
Great job! You got a good likeness in the self portrait, judging from your profile picture, but I think your eyes are bigger and your mouth is friendlier than your drawing shows. I see now that Corrine has made a similar comment. Maybe your drawing captures your concentration as you draw!
ReplyDeleteLove your charcoal drawings dear llona. Really great job!

These are both very nice. You seem to have a nice touch and feel for the medium! I really should pull out my charcoals to see what I can do with them.
ReplyDeleteFabulous work!
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona Both portraits are really good and powerful. You have inspired me to try something new.
ReplyDeleteOh, how wonderful pictures I find here! Special I like day 12.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drawings, you captured the expression of the girl so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWonderful portraits!! Full of atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteFabulous charcoal faces Ilona. I love the self portrait, you have drawn a very good likeness of yourself!
