Discussion

I put up this page in order to give room for questions and discussions. Sometimes it seems to me
that there is missing a forum for just asking some odd question or getting into detail with some topic
or technique related to the posts.
Or for more general questions to the blogger.

Let's see if there are any people out there feeling the same :-)

  1. Perhaps this is a silly point, Ilona, but I like your idea of a discussion forum.
Since I have started blogging I am aware that my art has taken a different turn, and developed. It has also helped me to realise that what I always regarded as silly playing about doodling may well be one of my strengths.
I think about this, and wonder if other people feel that just the process of posting their artwork shapes and focuses the direction of their work. Is it a good thing?
I should be interested in your views.

    1. Thank you for responding to this Jez! Why is it silly? :-) I think it makes sense to discuss things more deeply and exchange understandings more than just exchanging compliments/feedback on each others work (which really are of great importance for me).
You say that doodling was playing around and yes it is, but at the same time you create visual impressions that can be beautiful, funny or whatever other art forms are too. I love the doodling and have always done. I wouldn't have survived grammar school (Gymnasium as it is called over here) without doodling, and luckily my biology teacher was ok with me doing it!
Blogging has been the way for me, to start showing the world, what I love to do. It started as a compulsory part of my teacher education, and I just continued doing it after the arts-exam was finished.
I guess blogging has helped me develop my art in many different ways. Realising that there are people out there, who like what I do for one. And growing with the interaction with others, as well as seeing the art gathered in one place makes it possible to see, how I grow. I really enjoy painting and drawing portraits and I didn't know before, that this would be, what I like most. (Sculpting is still on the sideline, what could I do, if I were able to sculpt more?)
I'm not quite sure if I really answered your question. Are you aware of the direction you take with your art or does it just happen? For me the interaction is very helpful. Maybe it can be compared to the artist-groups like the impressionists, "Die Brücke", or the Danish artist group "Skagensmalerne"? They got together and painted and discussed (I guess) and developed their styles. Not that I want to compare myself to these artists, it's just that artists often did exchange views and worked together somehow. And the internet offers a different possibility of collaboration and getting to know each other.

    2. I like the idea of a discussion forum and i also find that some of my posts turn into discussions. I have always taught and so my blog was first to share (working alone is a thing aritsts do) and then I realized that I was learning and teaching from and to others.
On doodling, I do it -- and as an artist some like my doodles! I never know where the doodle will take me!

  2. Thank you Katie! As you can see, there are not many people, who take the step in here to comment. I think the giving and taking advice through this medium (blog) is one of the fascinating things, as is getting in touch with people from around the world!
Doodle is spontaneous almost unconscious evolving into conscious, very fascinating!
