So here is my collection of faces I have worked on:
This is painted after a photograph. To depict her pale skin, with little shadow in the face, was quite difficult. Unfortunately the camera does not capture the pale colouring very well.
In the second photograph I had added some warmer shades (yellow) hue, but it is not really visible. I'll work a little more on this portrait, before it's finished!
And the other portrait is another face in my little square sketchbook.
Now to the birds :-)
I havetold you about the international art collaboration last week, and for this I have started to train my
skills in drawing from nature and drawing birds.
The girl was started some time ago. As the sun has been out a lot more this week, I have been sitting outside in my garden, drawing our little apple-tree behind the girl.
And on a paper-roll I started drawing some exotic birds. Originally thinking of cutting them out, but they make a nice decoration all painted in their colourful feather-dresses.
Below you see it all at a glance :-)
And a Jambufruitdove on my new smooth drawing paper WIP
And one extra for Paper Saturday, inspired by Manon's post today:
A collaged match-box (WIP)
Art is really giving me so much, because I can relax and enjoy myself. It is kind of meditating. (I read that somewhere, and for me it is true!)
Thank you for visiting and commenting. I appreciate your feedback more than I can say. It has kept me going during a hard time of studying language and teaching.
Have a wonderful weekend!

It's wonderful to see the variety in your artwork. I love those birds on a paper-roll!
ReplyDeleteI liked the smiling girl a lot...and especially her eyes! The jambudove looks so cute...beautifully captured expressions!
ReplyDeletevery nice work! happy ppf!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous portraits, the girl with the apple tree is quite charming. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteI love the first portrait -- very complex and compelling -- it will be interesting to see what you add to it. I like that it's not a glamor girl, but a real person. I think you've done a good job with the mouth -- the teeth an gums are the "right" shades. The rest of the work is lovely, too. I am always impressed with your work.
ReplyDeleteI think your bird painting is fabulous, and to do it on small rolls of card even more amazing! Thank you so much for your comments at my little space, Happy PPF :)
ReplyDeleteThere is something very fragile and sensitive in your style, sense of history, a story, it makes your drawings and paintings very compelling. Good work with open mouth and teeth, the second portrait is very expressive with fabulous texture and the bird are lovely! <3
ReplyDeletegreat art..I find it hard to paint and draw teeth..happy ppf
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of different arty things. Happy PPF.
ReplyDeleteI find that creating and painting calms my brain... it is the only way i wind down... and I have no clue how people cope without it do you.... love your work this week... so glad you are getting so much done...xx
ReplyDeleteThe portraits are beautiful, and I find it also difficult to capture paintings with a camera. The girl with the tree is my favorite, looks peaceful but a bit sad, or nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Ilona really beautiful pieces. Love the bird emerging beautifully. The portraits are expressive!
ReplyDeleteLove the variety of styles. The first portrait is fab, very soft. Good luck with your exam.
ReplyDeletelovely work! I particularly like the third face, I like the subtlety of the light on her face.
ReplyDeleteYour portraits are wonderful - I admit I am partial to texture which draws me a bit more to the 2nd face. That bird filled paper roll is just gorgeous. HPPF
ReplyDeleteWow..soo very beautiful..your faces are wonderful..the first portrait is magnificent..the fleshtones and skin are awesome..very realistic...gentle and delicate and wonderful light..the teeth and lips fabulous too!
