Face in the world

Do you remember my start on face in the world?

Some people who did the 29 Faces challenge in February have joined in groups of 5, starting a painting each and then posting them in a circle to the next participant.
Today there was a big envelope in my mailbox with two pieces of art from Pennsylvania and Texas.

Wonderful about this project is the diversity that lies within each start and how every participant follows along the lines and on the other hand adds purely their own art into the painting. I am so curious what my piece is looking like just now. I just heard that stitches are added to it for hair.

Now to the mail again. Here is Beth Gould's start:

I am going to work on it soon, but I will have to get a feeling for it first, give it a little time. But I'm looking forward to starting on it, as it is a wonderful collaged background, that will be great to work on and then just something on the face... :-) you will learn about it soon enough!

And here's a sneak-peek into Jackie Nichols' painting. See the eyes? They were added by Beth and they're just gorgeous!

Jackie has produced a wonderful background with layers of colours, in turquoise yellow, white. She has stamped and even stitched some ribbon onto her piece. Jackie added a subtle outline of the face and the lips,

and now it is my turn to add something to complete the face. But there are two more people to contribute!

Paint Party Friday

This week I will share two pieces with you, The first is a live-size painting of my daughter (WIP)
She had dressed up a bit just for fun and then I got an idea for a challenge with a group on Facebook: A person with a hat, carrying a parcel and a suitcase.

Here is my contribution:

Still a lot to work on, getting the proportions in order and giving her a lot more substance. She'll have to wait some time to get finished :-)

The other piece I want to share with you is a drawing, I'll give you a few progress photos:

Wish you all happy Easter and a Happy Paint Party Friday!

Busy but always urging to make art!!!

Yes, that's how I feel :-)

So I put in a few of the things I have been doing these last few days/weeks. I have worked on my gesso-face and it turned out quite sweet, and I came to think of two Danish songs, while working. They are both about nightingales. Accidentally the bird on the painting has the colour of a nightingale.

The second picture is an abstract using pastels and acrylics on a calendar-page

Have a great week-end and belated happy PPF!

Face around the World

I am participating in a challenge or whatever one may call it. A group of participants from the 29 Faces challenge are working on painting faces, sending them off to one group member, who will add to the painting, sending it to another group member... All in all 4 groups with 5 members each are doing this. The first send off is getting done this week.

And here is, what I have done:

Starting with my sewing machine. She needed some oil, obviously as the needle didn't move a bit, when I started it.

Having stitched the pieces together, I added just a little of my mother of pearl acrylic and a tiny bit of a face drawn with charcoal.

Finally I took care of the back side, stitching the corners properly and adding a little lace on the edges and stitched it to the backing/lining.

Now the piece is ready to send off! It will go to the US, Tennessee!!!

Wow, thats a way to go!
I am so much looking forward to receiving mail from those fabulous artists!
This will be a great travel of art :-)

More pictures to come of different paintings in different stages.

Something went completely wrong with my blog post

Something strange happened yesterday! I was posting something in here on a blog post that was not published yet. When I published it turned out that the content of an older post somehow had disappeared. I have no idea how that could happen, does anybody have an idea?
Do I have to worry about my safety/privacy on my blog now???

If you have experienced something similar or have an idea how I can redo this I would be very grateful to hear from you!

Challenge yourself

I was invited to join in on a challenge, or maybe rather I was invited to follow somebody, who has been challenged to "go to Hell" with her art. That is what she is doing and I follow her on the sideline and I want to produce some art way bigger and more complex than I have recently done. I just need more time, so it will have to wait some months or so.

Here is the painting, I had posted earlier, and which had disappeared:

Some tryouts and funny stuff worked on the last few days

A little canvas painted for Art Abandonment. I'm going to leave it somewhere in our little town for somebody to take it home and enjoy. :-)
Hope it will work!

A lino cut - half a face

And a butterfly tasting a cactus flower

This little series show an idea I have for future pupils. they will have to take a story they have written or worked with, write it on a peace of paper (or print it) and then proceed in a similar style as I did.

After some coloring they have to find images in newspapers and books... that fit to the content of their story. The result will be a mixture of collage and painting, telling the story.
What do you think? Would you want your children to work with literature in this way???
Let me hear some parents' opinion!

Linking up with Paint Party Friday !!! See the fantabulous artists from around the world over there :-)

I have been so busy the last few weeks and more busy work is waiting ahead, but I will hopefully be able to visit all of you during the next few days!

Thank you all for your support, kind words left in the comments section. I would be alone with my art if it were not for you all!

Mail

Something special arrived with the mail today :-) - well that was some days ago, but the feeling of happiness is still there, when I look at the frame standing on my cabinet!
I received a letter containing a print from Sharon, a blogger friend she has become by now I feel. I had seen a painting of hers a few weeks ago and was so fascinated by it, that I asked for the price, because I wanted to buy it. Sharon offered me a free print as the first ever person who wanted to buy something from her.

The frame is a bit too small, but I needed to put the print into a frame to protect it from any harm.

Here is the link to Sharon's painting I am so fond of: http://sharonartinspirations.blogspot.de/2013/02/peace.html

(of course there are more of them, for instance the one with her and her sister driving in a car to the beach)

When you visit Sharon's blog you wouldn't believe it. Her art is refined and beautiful, with depth and a special choice of coloring. Very often Sharon includes written messages in her art.
Visit Sharon's blog and see what she creates.
