Ok I did a major spelling mistake giving the sentence a completely different meaning. I've corrected that now and I look forward to visiting many artists in the coming week!

Combining my favorite subject, painting and drawing faces, with the use of colour is a wonderful combination for me in this time of work with children with special needs, which is quite demanding, as I'm new to it and I have a lot to learn about it!
Here are this week's faces. I'm working on paper backgrounds that I have worked on previously, unfinished drawings and paintings and papers I have been experimenting on:

Painting 28 days colorful in February

Hi all! I'm going to participate in a blog-hop in February with Maiken Damsgaard. She has asked artists to join her creating colourful art through the month of February, "28 dage i farver"
I am going to combine this challenge with the 29 Faces challenge from Ayala Art, which I mainly follow on Facebook!

My wish to schedule my blogging time more consistently hasn't worked out so far, because I have started working more and I lack time for everything now ;-) I am not complaining! It's great, I just have to get used to the new situation.

Last week I have started working on a painting for my daughter. She asked me to paint a canvas with the colours of this painting:

My daughter asked me to paint some birds and if there are any blue birds. Luckily there are and luckily there is a great photographer, who shares photos for artists to paint! So the birds are coming to life slowly on my canvas. Here are two birds that are sitting on the canvas by now:

Another project I have started during a class is evolving in my living room now:

I collaged some lamps and the lady dressed in black from a magazine and slapped some paint on an A2 sized cardboard. In the last lesson on thursday I started drawing the face to the right and gave her a crown. That's when I came up with a title for the painting: "Königin im Lampenladen" "Queen of the Lamp Store". Following are a few process pictures, the painting is not completely finished!

It has been fun to play with paints and collage and I'm looking forward to the two challenges I'm going to start on the 1. February!

Hello my dear friends, fellow bloggers and new visitors!

Today I'll show you a single piece on this blog and give you a link to a new blog, where I show my 29 Faces in September work. I have just started the blog that I am going to use for my teaching courses (art and language).

Here is the painting I have been working on the last three days:

It is painted with acrylics, charcoal and pastels. I have concidered adding a wash of acrylic in another color, but I'm not quite sure.

Visiting the Paint Party Friday :-)

I guess I found out why it's become so difficult for me to post regularly on my blog. It has stopped since I've finished my studies. While I studied I was at my computer almost all the time and now I've so many other things to do that I have to make time for blogging. If I want to keep at it, I will have to really schedule blogging-time in future. I'll have to get myself pulled together :-)

Now I want to show you a few projects I've been working on last week:

The first piece I want to show you is my contribution to the traveling journal of Lizzy Love. There are a lot of process-photos and some detail-photos. I very much hope Lizzy will like her!

Next is a sketch of a Mufflon on 300g water colour paper. I used pencils and pastels, a brush and water (The reference photo was provided by Karina Sturm)

Finally I'm working on Frida Kahlo portraits, which I enjoy very much. I am going to do a collaboration with postcard sized Frida-art. I blogged about that a few weeks ago here.

This week I did this painting:

Loving Frida

Hi dear visitor,

I have an idea and I would like to ask any of you, who love Frida too, if you would be interested in making a project with Frida Kahlo as the main theme?
Postcard sized pieces of art would be the easiest to send by mail and the cheapest!
The idea is just coming to my mind and I am open to suggestions.

Mix it Monthly in January

Was very inspiring and so much so that I rather accidentally created paintings that fitted into the category. Here are two portraits that I did this month:

The Birdlady is a mixed media work on cardboard sized approximately 70x100 cm:

The page below is part of the Traveling Art Journal (you can see who is in the group on the link above). It is a combination of collage and acrylics.

And a pencil sketch and acrylic painting. I added the colours to the drawing last week. The woman in the painting has recently lost her father and somehow the idea to add colours came to my mind and the dripping paint just was a spontaneous idea.

Lastly I wanted to add this fair lady to the show, as she is wearing the most stunning headdress! She is the result of an international collaboration (and I need to frame her properly)

WIP

Hi there! I'm working on a portrait 39x28 inches/ 100x72 cm. I love the size! Actually it could even be bigger, but for now it's ok, as I only jump up to my workspace, when I feel I deserve a break from my studies. So it will take some more time to get it finished. 

She is growing a little every day :-)

Travelling Journal

Hi everyone!
I am participating in a travelling-journal-round this year that is initiated by Martha Ayala, who you all know I guess :-). She has created groups like 29 Faces, which is coming up soon again!

12 artists from around the world will create a journal and send it on to the next artist on a list.

I have created a page with links to the participating artist's blog. Here's a link to the The Travelling Journal page. You can find the link under the header of my blog as well!

Here is the first page I created in Anita Mistry's journal. I may be adding to it, but I'm happy with the outcome so far! Anita wanted us to use "the colours of India"/bright friendly colours. And so I went looking for inspiration on the net.
I started by collaging pink, yellow and orange papers onto the page and to give it a little contrast I added some greens.

I really loved the feel of this colourful collage! The bright and happy colours are quite different from, what I usually use, at least in that amount!

To evolve from there I had to find a face to paint, so I searched again, for people in India and found the image of a girl that I liked. I put some white acrylic over the collage and started to sketch the face with charcoal:

And added more paint and worked on details of the picture:

Here is the version I ended up with until now. It can rest for a while now and maybe I will get some ideas or things I would like to change.

I very much hope Anita will like the first page in her journal! I loved to work in it. It feels rather special, to do this kind of work for another person.

Because of my current situation I am going to reduce my blogging, but I'm going to post pictures from time to time without linking up with my favorite challenges and parties, as I am not able to get around to visit all the participants.

I am always happy to have visitors and I will visit you my dear blogger friends whenever time allows it. So feel welcome at all times!
