Paper Picasso Inspiration

An hour of artsy pastime and my husband is impressed. Always at the most unexpected moments :-)
I have been thinking of a mobile for PAPER SATURDAY for some days, but needed an idea.
Today I needed to do something crafty and just started.

here come the first cuts:

But I wanted to include a face, but how to do that free hand?
Then I came to think of the "Mix it Monthly Challenge" where Picasso, butterflies and a beautiful face were included. I visited Pia Rom's blog and the path was set...a butterfly and two eyes

a pointed nose and expressive lips...

A LOT OF YELLOW! ;-)
And the mobile was finished

Inspired by my work from yesterday, I did another mobile free style - not knowing what it would end up like. It is great fun, but a little hard on my index finger ;-)

Have a wonderful week everyone!
Ilona's greeting you :-)

Paint Party Friday

It's Friday already!!! Oh my, I need to hurry, because there's so much to do.... :-)

I have made a few portraits and I have drawn snails this week, as my daughter loves them. I took a few photos and one of them I have edited a little and drawn the photo afterwards.
Just presenting the results of this weeks art-work and then hurry on to my writing task again! Have wonderful weekend all of you and enjoy art at PAINT PARTY FRIDAY!

Thank you for visiting! :-)

Painting on wood

I bought a few wooden decorations this week. They have natural colours and I wanted to paint on them and maybe abandon them. One of them went into my daughter's possession :-)

They are works in progress and here are some process photos of them:

I started this heart with doodling with my Indian ink pen.

Here is the other side:

After doodling I covered all of it with a layer of satin silver acrylic.

And finally I started colouring it with water colour.

The second piece is a butterfly, which I painted with acrylic first and then started painting the face of a young woman.

Below a detail-shot of the face.

The last three pictures are showing slight changes in shading and colouring of the skin.

The other side of the butterfly shows a rabbit painted only with Payne's grey. The surrounding is painted green and the other half will end up half a butterfly again.

This was it for this week. Thank you for good wishes for the exam! It was an ok day.
Hope you enjoyed the week-end!

Playing again with Faces, Birds and Paper-rolls

After some stressful weeks, a few days of easiness and playing with my art supplies give me new energy for the written exam coming next week.

So here is my collection of faces I have worked on:

This is painted after a photograph. To depict her pale skin, with little shadow in the face, was quite difficult. Unfortunately the camera does not capture the pale colouring very well.

In the second photograph I had added some warmer shades (yellow) hue, but it is not really visible. I'll work a little more on this portrait, before it's finished!

And the other portrait is another face in my little square sketchbook.

Now to the birds :-)

I havetold you about the international art collaboration last week, and for this I have started to train my
skills in drawing from nature and drawing birds.
The girl was started some time ago. As the sun has been out a lot more this week, I have been sitting outside in my garden, drawing our little apple-tree behind the girl.

And on a paper-roll I started drawing some exotic birds. Originally thinking of cutting them out, but they make a nice decoration all painted in their colourful feather-dresses.

Below you see it all at a glance :-)

And a Jambufruitdove on my new smooth drawing paper WIP

And one extra for Paper Saturday, inspired by Manon's post today:

A collaged match-box (WIP)

Art is really giving me so much, because I can relax and enjoy myself. It is kind of meditating. (I read that somewhere, and for me it is true!)

Thank you for visiting and commenting. I appreciate your feedback more than I can say. It has kept me going during a hard time of studying language and teaching.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Toilet roll reclaimed for Paper Saturday

Last week I learned about a Japanese artist, who made wonderful art installations out of the small paper rolls. I made an instant attempt of my own.
Today I make a kind of "sketch" or another tryout, and I will show you a few process pictures.
I start with a pencil sketch of the motive. Here I added a little pastel to give it colour.

For cutting I use this cutting tool, which is very useful and comfortable to hold (like a pen).

In the picture below you can see the cut line, following the outline of my drawing.
If you have a very detailed motiv you need to start with the inner lines, as the material is rather vulnerable.

Here are the two ladies "standing" up/out from the roll.

Originally my idea was, to let them face each other, but that didn't work out.
This cutting process is really interesting to me, and I have done this, lying flat on thin cardboard when I was young(er).

Have a wonderful week end you all!

Art for abandonment and exquisite corpse tryout

Dear you all! :-)

I had a very busy week and these coming days will be busy too, so it will take some time to get around to visiting the growing community at Paint Party Friday. Which just expands the joy and beauty in store for all of us.

Now to my art work. I have finished a few WIP's:

They are going to be abandoned, and two of them will be sent to the US, where Lauri Crowe has agreed to abandon some art for me. Hope it will make some people happy!

Now I come to my test of the Exquisite Corpse, I needed to find out, what the paper I intended to use, could take. So here is:

It looks a bit scary, but actually the faces express my mood at the moment. Shifting between panic, frustration and calmness and bliss. The rest was just playing around and getting inspired by my doodles and pictures and so on.

Hope you enjoyed my little (horror) picture show!

Please visit Paint Party Friday and the artists contributing to a fantastic on-line art show!

Tomorrow I am going to visit Manon Popjes Paper Saturday again and blog about my toilet roll art.

Have a wonderful week-end, enjoy your life. Focus on the people around you who really love you and if it is hard at the moment, find the beauty of life in nature, it will always be able to soothe your pain.
Sing a song

Thank you for visiting! And to those of you, who leave a comment know that you make my life more beautiful :-)
