28 and 29 of 29 faces

The last two faces for the 29 Faces challenge with Ayala Art, those of you bloggers who also are on the Facebook page 29 faces already know these last few days' faces.

Face 28: chalkhead 

On the facebook page one of the participants had made two faces of school-chalk. I thought it was so cool and as I love sculpting I simply had to try it! I already started a new one, will post it some other day. This head is made from my daughters street-drawing-chalk. It is very soft and really difficult to work with. I used a small brush to remove the dust, but the brush could take half the nose, if I wasn't careful. He is not really finished, but I'm not sure if I will do any more about him, maybe I'll draw a face with him on the street :-)

And face 29 the princess from the fairy tale: The Frog Prince; or Iron Henry

She has been part of an earlier post, or rather: she was on the skirt I have posted a few weeks ago, so now you get a close up of her face :-)

Below you can see a little dog I "found" on the skirt I've painted these faces on. I'm not counting him in as one of the faces, but I will just go on painting faces, as that is what I love to do!

The portrait below was inspired by another participants portrait on Facebook. The colours just seemed perfect for my sketchbook page. She is a bit askew and her nose is too long, 

but well - nobody is perfect! 

I post another sketch after a photo of survivors of the siege in Stalingrad. I just tried to catch the mood and expressions on peoples' faces.

Here is now a profile sketch of my husband :-) it's a sketch obviously not finished.

A model needs to be very dedicated to sit still, and in my family they don't ;-)

Three days to go and I'm off today, studying. Hope to visit some of you all

I'm not quite sure if I am satisfied with the painting, so I made a cut out and place it here. What do you think?

A new start

I have to tell you something. Some writing assignments are waiting for me right now, maybe I've said it before, but it is absolutely necessary for me to finish them RIGHT NOW!!!!
So I cleaned my desk, so I can really get a new start on my tasks.

This cleaning and sorting out has given me new energy and I need it!

I will add the last faces in the next days, but I will not have much time to visit all the people connected with the 29 faces challenge with Ayala Art. I hope you'll understand!

25 of 29 faces

Today I add a portrait in a bigger scale. It is 72cm x 102cm. I was visiting some blogs and on one blog I suddenly got the urge to move out of my sketchbook.
So here are some process-pictures:

The last photo is taken, while the paint was still wet, hence the shine. There is still work to do on this, but it is really cool to work with bigger paintings! There will be some more shaping of the face and body and the background needs more substance still.

Adding some colour suits her well. Frida often portrayed herself very colourful.
