Waiting for ignition

I have to hand in a writing task, quite a big one, but I just can't get myself to finishing it!
I startet off quite well with the creative part, writing a short story and making the layout for the whole thing, but now the tedious part has to be finished, and I move around it like a "cat around the hot mash" (German saying).

Now, today is really the day I have to do it, and I have made a schedule for myself to get it done. I just hope, I do stick to it! The idea is, to set off three hours around midday, in which I do the rest of the writing. That will be writing about 2/3 of an exam paper. Fantastic idea! But it must be done.

As soon as it is done, I will post the finished version of "Debt to be Discharged", so something will hopefully happen here at least once more today :-)

Did hand it in, though the story did not come to a good end. I'll have to rewrite it before I post it.

Give me relief

This story is related to an article I read on the newspaper in spring. It was the cause, why I chose modern slavery for my contemporary arts project in the spring. I have posted some pictures under the title samtidskunst-contemporary art.

Give me relief

When are they coming to open the shop? I need to get out, to get some food, but they don't give me any money.
Maybe I could steel away from the house, and find something out there some where.
I'm so afraid (crying) ....

Sticky and dirty is the tiny space in which I am living.

Mmmmmmmmmh, he hi he ha, he hi ha hi ha he... hi he heee... I'm running across a field, my brother is chasing me. He wants me to take care of the goat. I'm laughing, because I know he can't get me. I hide in a place, where it's nice and cosy and sometimes butterflies flutter about. They are going to settle down on me, if I sit really still. Suddenly my stomach rumbles and I wake up from my dream. I'm really hungry and the insects that fly around my head are fat flies. I try to wave them off me, but my arm is too weak. My tongue is feeling too big for my mouth. I'm really thirsty, and I start moving towards the water tub, I try to turn the tap. It is not my strength that fails. They must have turned it off.
I try to shout, but I can cry as loudly as ever, nobody will hear me. The walls are built to strongly to let any noise from outside in or from the inside out.

I sit down, waiting.

I guess they will come and open the shop today or tomorrow.
If I go to sleep in my cabin maybe I will be able to forget the hunger... my stomach hurts. My whole body is screaming for some nourishment. Pictures of the delicious food my mother prepared for us in the festival season come to my mind. Dry tears run across my face, as I rest my head on my shoulder. I don't have tears inside me, only hurt. Suddenly I see the face of my mother in front of me. She wants to tell me something, but I can't hear her. In my thoughts I tell her "Get me out of here, give me some of your delicious rice" and then I collapse.

I wake up, hurting and freezing. Why am I so cold? I look around, and try to pull some blanket over me. It doesn't help.

I retch and at the same time I urge for water. I try to crawl to the tub again, but I feel so tired as soon as I turn my body in that direction I just break down... The butterflies are there again, this time they sit on my head and on my arms; and I smile inwardly. Then the stench of my own body creeps into my nose and I start retching again. Certainly my body is not able to give anything away.

I lie with my eyes closed, waiting for relief...    Something must happen.

A weird kaleidoscope of visions is running through my mind as I'm lying there.

I feel so weak and so hungry and I'm hurting violently and I'm not able to move. Somebody must come and relieve me...

soon.

Debt to be discharged

Billie ran along the street, as fast as he could manage, with his hurt knee. He had fallen down the stairs, when he left his flat on Brickroad 17. He had got a call from an old friend with an urgent request for help. He owed to him, and since the incident, about which Billie preferred not to talk, the two of them had hardly seen each other. Years had passed. But now it was time for him to redress for his friend’s help. And though he was worried, he felt a kind of glow inside, he was thankful to whomever, God? – Billie had never really believed in God, maybe fate? – Yes, he would say, fate had given him the chance, to compensate for the trouble he had caused his friend.

Billie came to a halt and looked around. Maybe there was somebody skulking at a window. He was a bit nervous still, when he walked about alone at night.
Now was not the time to think much, anyway. He was in a hurry. At the bus stop he came to a halt, coughing, and then taking in deep breaths. He was in a bad shape, due to his current occupation, which held him at his writing desk. A few people were waiting too. A young couple was snogging behind the bus shelter. The girl started giggling, when she noticed Billie, but he just turned away. Long ago he had decided, not to get inflamed about peoples’ reaction, when they lay eyes on him. By the way, most people just seemed not to see him at all. Bus nr. 277 was arriving, and he stood first in line now, eager to get on the bus and reach the spot of appointment. They had talked about meeting at his friend’s place, but the address was too elaborate and they didn’t want any sneaking and poking neighbours around. The bus had taken a few bends before it stopped again, three times the bus stopped, before a man in a grey coat and a cap with an emblem of the local football team jumped on. Billie tried to catch his eyes, but the man wore mirrored sunglasses. He was quite sure, that it would be his friend and waited for him to join him on the backseat. The man sat down a few rows in front of Billie, and when the bus came to a halt again, he got up, thrust a package into Billie’s lap and left the bus. Before Billie knew of it, the bus had taken up speed again. Billie got up from his seat; the package was in his left hand. He stood looking out of the window. The man was walking speedily through a gate and was out of sight.
Billie looked down at the parcel and wondered, what this was all about. He pushed the signal button, and the bus stopped some hundred yards from, where the man had left the bus. Billie felt uncomfortable, disappointed.

Theme related artwork

This collage was made as a preparation for a project with a class, combining English, Danish and Arts.
The pupils were supposed to prepare a front cover of a book, in which they were supposed to collect different works of writing and arts.

My collage was made for a friend who is female, loves children, is a friend of nature and an advocate of justice.

Clay sculptures

Fantasy creature in a bowl.
Horns of a cow were used to form the four pointed round figures, all embellished with some kind of print or pattern.

Raven head, blackened with shoe polish and charcoal and  decorated with feathers

Phoenix

I painted this phoenix as part of the decoration for a "Harry Potter" project at the local school.
(Size 70x70 cm)

Croquis carried further

Two girls printed on acetate plate, transferred from a pencil drawing. The "unclean" use of colour adds expression to the picture.

This print was so bare of expression I added pencil, pastel and acrylic to give it more substance.

A picture of a male body painted in acrylic, charcoal and pastel.

Inspired by nature

The first two pictures are inspired by plants from my garden.
I have used different techniques. The flowers are painted with pastels and acrylic paint and graphite.
The pear and garden house are drawn with color-pencils, the pear leaves and blossoms are "printed" with acrylic paint. This adds to the liveliness of the picture.

The shell and cork float installation set in a beach atmosphere. Drawn with pencil and coloured with acrylic and pastels.
